Bay windows

Supplementary Instructions Bay or Hex windows - Please note it is not recommended to install these yourself unless you are an expirenced handyman.

Please read conventional track instructions first.

Attempt to get the correct angle during measurement stage – by providing accurate measurements as per template.
On Bay window or hexagon window only 2 large brackets are used they are attached only at each end of the window - for pelmets no large brackets are needed because they are self supporting.
The same as in the standard installation instructions: Attach brackets on wall at correct height all around on studs where track will be.
Starting preferably with a middle track use a couple of small screws to hold up, because there will be no end brackets track may drop down slightly this is OK.
Attach 2x flat brackets on underside of each side of this track which is now attached to the wall. Use small screw – on each bracket leave other end of flat bracket jutting out ready to be attached to next track.
While making sure track is not drooping down, line up next track against one side it if angle is OK there should be no gap and the tracks should line up.

A. When tracks line up without gap:

Note: If the track you’re attaching is the last or first track it should have large gold bracket on one end - unless a pelmet.

Screw in other side of flat bracket to next track and attach to wall also attach 1x flat bracket to top making sure not to screw down through the plastic track.
Sand any corners jutting out corners where the 2 plastic tracks meet and test with glider make sure glider goes round join smoothly and tracks joins are touching or very close together

B: If tracks don’t line and there is a gap: Angles need to be adjusted – this can be done carefully by sanding the track edge with either a belt sander or orbital sander or cutting track end on a different angle using a drop saw.

When you place track against other track look carefully at gap – on the side that touches angle needs to be changed by taking more off this side until tracks join with no gap or minimal gap.

Note: When using a belt sander to adjust the edge angle be careful the direction the belt sander is going in relation to the edge, if the edge of the plastic track catches on the sand paper the direction of the belt sander should be such that the plastic track can’t fly out – instead it should go into the groove and not protrude. If the direction in wrong the plastic track can get caught on the sand paper fly out of the groove and crack.

On end tracks large brackets can interfere with the angle – If this happens simply make a cutout for the bracket in the board so the track can sit flush against the wall or if track needs to go slightly the other way it can also be adjust by fixing bracket slightly out from track.
If plastic tracks aren’t quite touching, but wood is or can’t get any closer - side plastic tracks can be removed and repositioned against other plastic track and put back in. Before doing this procedure remove end stoppers and twist out end stoppers using a pair of pliers. When putting end stopper pins back in be careful not to bend pin by pushing them back in very slowly.

C. If tracks are going against bulkhead (touching ceiling):

Angles should be checked by holding tracks up against ceiling.
Studs should be found and marked on ceiling.
If possible tracks should be joined on ground then lifted up.
Once track is joined and fits and is checked top brackets can be removed prior to final installation as long as tracks are supported when being lifted up or top brackets can be left but they can cause a slight gap between ceiling and top of track.
To install simply hold up and screw through track wood where studs are to attach.

D. If ceiling is concrete or no studs can be found:

While track is being held up in right position pilot holes will have to be drilled though track and into ceiling.
Track will then have to be taken down, appropriate plugs put in ceiling where marks are then track will have to be lifted up again and screws drilled through pilot holes in track then through into plugs.
